Batman #40 (DC Comics)

MILD SPOILERS

Like any issue of Batman, issue 40 has a ton of hype around it. However, what makes this issue of the Dark Knight’s adventures stand out over other issues by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo is the fact that this is the finale of the “Endgame”, the massive story arc involving the alleged final battle between Batman and his arch-nemesis The Joker. Now that the final part of the storyline has finally hit shelves, it’s time to delve deep into the issue and see if this is the final battle of The Dark Knight and The Clown Prince of Crime.

The Joker: Ink Master

At long last, we finally have our first look at Jared Leto’s Joker in David Ayer’s upcoming Suicide Squad, and if you’ll pardon the pun, I really hope the joke is on us.

I’ve been dying to see Leto’s take on the Joker. He’s a stellar actor, and when he was announced as The Joker I was ecstatic. And now, after seeing him for the first time, I’m not ecstatic. In fact, I’m really, really bummed out by it.

Star Wars #4

After the trailer for The Force Awakens, a new issue of Star Wars is just what the doctor ordered. Jason Aaron and John Cassaday’s massive Star Wars series continues this month, and while this issue is a quieter one than the previous ones, it’s still one hell of an example of how good this series is.

On Leaks and Trailers

My, my, my. What a week for nerd news. Not only have we gotten a ton of information on Star Wars The Force Awakens, Battlefront, and Rogue One, but we’ve also gotten a brand spankin’ new trailer for the upcoming restart of the franchise. Not to be outdone, we also got a look at Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice this week as well.

Actually, Batman V Superman was outdone. By Star Wars.

Archie Vs. Predator #1 (of 4) (Archie Comics)

Of all of the modern comic publishers, the one that makes the most daring choices is Archie. Before you balk at my claim, take a look at some of the titles they’ve released in the past few years. From Kevin Keller to Afterlife With Archie, the publishers of “America’s Favorite Teen” have been coming up with ingenious new ways to keep Archie and his pals relevant decades after he was created. Archie vs. Predator #1, out today from writer Alex De Campi and artist Fernando Ruiz, continues the Archie renaissance, even if the issue is mainly set up.

TV Review: Daredevil Season 1, Episodes 7-13

I’ll be honest, the second half of Marvel’s Daredevil could’ve been 7 episodes of Matt Murdock break dancing while Kingpin beat boxes around him and I’d still give this series a glowing review. Thankfully, the second half of this series is just as good as the first, even with a few minor hiccups here and there. If the first six episodes of Daredevil serve as setting the stage for Matt Murdock and his world, the second half dismantles that world piece by piece, and uncovers secrets behind the Man Without Fear and his nemesis, Wilson Fisk. It also features two of the best episodes of the season: “Stick” and “Shadows In Glass”.

TV Review: Daredevil Season 1, Episodes 1-6

Marvel’s Daredevil is dark, gritty, and extremely violent. It’s like nothing else the studio has released. And it’s incredible. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, Marvel has done it again, delivering a gripping story that honors the character it’s focused on, and adds to the legacy of Matt Murdock. Ol’ Hornhead has had some incredible stories throughout his 50+ years in comics, and we can now add Drew Goddard, Steven DeKnight, and the rest of the show’s creative team to the Daredevil list that includes writers Ed Brubaker, Brian Michael Bendis, and Frank Miller.

So You’ve Just Binge Watched All of Daredevil….Now What?

Marvel Studios’ Daredevil has finally hit Netflix, and by now, you’ve probably either started the series or already binged through every episode available to you. So what now? With no news on a season two just yet, you’ll have to sit tight until AKA Jessica Jones hits (or a few weeks until Age of Ultron releases). But if you’re still jonesing for more Daredevil, then you’re in luck, cause there’s plenty of fantastic stories featuring Matt Murdock just waiting for you. Of all of Marvel’s characters, Daredevil has arguably had some of the greatest runs, with some big names working on the character throughout his publishing history. But where to start? Luckily, all of the following Daredevil stories I’m listing to you are easily accessible, and awesome.

Not content with killing off Wolverine last year, Marvel’s now focusing the Grim Reaper’s sights on their OTHER mega-popular mutant: Deadpool. Yes, the Merc With A Mouth is meeting his maker, and Marvel’s giving him a grand send off with Deadpool #45(which also counts as the 250^th issue).

All-New, All-Different Avengers!

Leave it to Marvel to reveal the post-Secret Wars Avengers team months BEFORE the big mega event starts. Granted, this new Avengers roster is going to be featured in Marvel’s Free Comic Book Day issue that’s due in a few months, so them hyping it up now isn’t too crazy. However, I do think it’s a little weird that they’re going to use their FCBD issue to hype up something that will be hitting in September. At least they’re releasing a special Secret Wars comic to ensure new readers will be returning the following Wednesday for the start of the blockbuster event.
