A-Force is easily the most anticipated (and hyped) Secret Wars crossover. Featuring a team of all female Avengers, the Marguerite Bennett and G. Willow Wilson scripted series has every single female member of the Marvel universe teaming up, but before you go grabbing this book thinking it’s the start of the next big team in the Marvel Universe, you should probably read the first two issues of Secret Wars first. A-Force ties into the event heavily, so much so that I get the feeling that the new readers Marvel has been pitching this series to might be turned off by it. Read the rest of this entry

The latest big Marvel event is here: Secret Wars. Jonathan Hickman’s mega event has been years in the making; we just didn’t know it until now. The New 24!

dc-new-hed2-630x419DC’s New 52 is no more!

Well, not really. Instead, we’re going to get what comic publishers do best: a whole bunch of brand new #1 issues.

That’s right, after their big Convergence event, DC will release 24 brand new series that will reflect the “new DC universe” following the big event. Now some of these series are simply continuations of ones that came before, like Red Hood & Arsenal, while some are completely new series, like Black Canary. Read the rest of this entry
