COMIC REVIEWS!!

Lots of times comics fall through the cracks. Whether a series is cancelled too early or it’s a one shot that’s been lost in a drawer somewhere, many times whenever there’s a comic coming out that seemingly has no real reason for being released, that’s the case. And it’s probably definitely the case for Marc Guggenheim and Dave Wilkin’s Wolverine vs Blade one shot, a comic that feels like a relic from the mid-00’s brought to today. Batman and Deathstroke have always had a pretty strong rivalry, but DC’s never played it up like they are with Deathstroke #30. As the start of the “Batman vs. Deathstroke” storyline, the Christopher Priest and Carlos Pagulayan issue is being marketed as a good launching on point for the series, and after reading it, I have to admit, it’s really awesome. DC’s “Age of Heroes” has had a pretty rough start. After being delayed due to its ties to Metal, the first two titles in the line, Damage and The Silencer, weren’t exactly the best examples of creating new and exciting characters that the publisher was promising. With writer Tim Seely moving over to Green Lanterns, it’s only fitting that the writer behind that series, Sam Humphries, moves over to Nightwing. While I’ve enjoyed the DC Rebirth run when it first started, recent issues of Dick Grayson’s adventures have become a little stale, so I was happy to see that the title would be getting some fresh blood, and man, this is great new beginning for the character. extremity_01-1Extremity #1 (Image Comics)

Image Comics have prided themselves on being the go to place for comic creators, and while it’s created a glut of new titles that sometimes feel very similar, there are still lots of books that feature some pretty awesome surprises. One of those surprises is definitely Daniel Warren Johnson’s Extremity, a book that takes a lot of similar themes you’ve seen in other Image titles and completely turns them on their head. Deadpool_45_cover Deadpool #45

Not content with killing off Wolverine last year, Marvel’s now focusing the Grim Reaper’s sights on their OTHER mega-popular mutant: Deadpool. Yes, the Merc With A Mouth is meeting his maker, and Marvel’s giving him a grand send off with Deadpool #45(which also counts as the 250th issue). Read the rest of this entry
