The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina #4 (Archie Comics)

If you had told me a year ago that one of my favorite comics on the stands would be one starring Sabrina the Teenage Witch, I would’ve laughed in your face. And yet here we are with The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina #4, a series that I’m unabashedly in love with. Set in the same world as Archie’s Afterlife With Archie series, Sabrina is a much more mature take on the world of the teenage witch. Hell, it’s even more mature than Afterlife, with writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and artist Robert Hack delivering one of the creepiest comics on the stands.

I’ve finally done it. I’ve beaten Arkham Knight.

Well, that’s not entirely true. I’m at 96%, with every side mission finished except for the Riddler trophies, of which I’m slowly working through to get 100% completion. However, which only 4% remaining in the game, I’d say that I’ve played plenty of the game to pass along some of my thoughts on it.

The Punisher #20 (Marvel Comics)

Nathan Edmondson and Mitch Gerads bring their stellar run on Frank Castle to a close this week, and man, does The Punisher #20 deliver. Everything about this issue works: from the writing, to the pacing, to the panel layouts. While this isn’t the end of Frank Castle, it’s definitely a great way for Edmondson and Gerads to put a stamp on their run, and cements them as one of the best teams to work on the character.

Comic Con 2015 Wrap-Up!

I’ll be honest; I didn’t think there was going to be much to get me excited at this year’s San Diego Comic Con. With the exception of the WB panel, there didn’t seem to be a lot of hype going out pre-show. Marvel Studios wasn’t going, Disney wasn’t going to premiere a new Force Awakens trailer, and many of the comics publishers had announced their big publishing movements BEFORE the event even kicked off. It just seemed like SDCC 2015 was going to be a big bore.

Man, was I wrong. From a spectacular Batman V Superman trailer to news of two of some of my favorite comic book characters crossing over, there was tons of awesome stuff to come out of Comic Con this year. And we’ll kick it off with a team-up book I’ve been clamoring for since 2007…

Movie Review: Ant-Man!

Ant-Man is always going to be a “what if” movie. Like The Dark Knight Rises or X-Men 3, it’s a film that will always have an alternate reality version where the original plan for the film (in this case Edgar Wright directing) stayed intact. However, despite the behind the scenes drama, Ant-Man is an extremely solid Marvel movie. Sure, it doesn’t have the stakes or star power of any of the Avengers films, or the off-beat quirk that made Guardians of the Galaxy a smash, but the Peyton Reed directed superhero flick has a charm all it’s own, and shines brightest when it focuses on Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang and Michael Douglas’ Hank Pym.

Hawkeye #22 (Marvel Comics)

Well, look who we have here. After months, and months, and months of delays (and the start of a NEW Hawkeye series), we finally have the conclusion of Matt Fraction and David Aja’s Hawkeye. There’s been such a long delay on this series that I honestly don’t even remember what happened in the last issue. But, Hawkeye is here, and it’s time to check out how this final issue stacks up.

The Superhero Movies That Might Have Been

The current trend going around these days is documentaries about comic book films that never made it to the big screen. Metalocalpyse’s John Schnepp has finally finished and started to release his documentary about Tim Burton and Nicolas Cage’s failed Superman Lives project, and after the success of Mad Max: Fury Road, another documentary has popped up, this time focusing on the failed Justice League film that was set to roll back in 2010. The halls of major studios are littered with the corpses of failed movies, and in the spirit of these two documentaries, let’s take a look at some of them.

Star Wars: Lando #1 (of 5) (Marvel)

I won’t lie, I wasn’t expecting much from Star Wars: Lando, but after giving everything else Marvel’s done with Star Wars a try, I figured I’d give it a shot. And I’m glad I did, because this opening issue of the five issue miniseries from writer Charles Soule and artist Alex Maleev is one of the most entertaining first issues of the year. The two creators place Lando Calrissian front and center in a story that has more in common with heist flicks like The Italian Job than the original Star Wars trilogy, a twist that makes for one awesome comic book.

Strange Times Ahead For Marvel

We’ve all been waiting for Marvel to announce their books post-Secret Wars, and now with the release of the All-New All-Different Marvel preview book, we’ve gotten a look at some of the new titles coming our way this fall. And boy, Marvel sure is living up to the All-Different part of the initiative. From a Howling Commandos book to a series starring Carnage, there’s lots of new offbeat series to come. But with so many to choose from, which ones should you look out for? Well, I can’t make that decision for you, but I can at least tell you which ones I’m interested in:

With artist Steve Skroce in tow, Vaughn creates a new series that feels as lived in as the worlds of Saga, Y: The Last Man, and Ex Machina, and has a great premise that stands alongside those stories.
