Movie Review: Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018)

Directed by: Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey, and Rodney Rothman
Spider-Man has had many films, but Into the Spider-verse is different. Not only is it the first animated feature film starring the wall-crawler to hit theaters, it’s also the cinematic debut of not only Miles Morales, but Gwen Stacey’s Spider-Woman (aka Spider-Gwen). Showcasing the young Miles’ origins as the new Spider-man, as well as hosting a bunch of other spider-characters, Into The Spider-Verse could have been a mess, a cheap corporate cash-in on the Spidey brand name. Instead, it stands as not only the best animated feature of the year, but one of the greatest comic book films ever, and possibly even the best Spider-Man film. Read the rest of this entry
My Name Is Miles Morales
For the past few weeks, I’ve been catching up on Brian Michael Bendis’ Ultimate Comics Spider-Man in preparation for Miles Morales’ insertion into the “regular” Marvel Universe. While I’m still a little wary about having two Spider-men running around in the main Marvel Universe, I’ve been having a blast reading Miles’ adventures as he figures out a way to live up to the legacy Peter Parker left behind. But while reading it, a thought arrived into my head that’s so perfect I’m surprised it hasn’t happened yet: Miles Morales is perfect for a Spider-Man TV show. Read the rest of this entry
Strange Times Ahead For Marvel
We’ve all been waiting for Marvel to announce their books post-Secret Wars, and now with the release of the All-New All-Different Marvel preview book, we’ve gotten a look at some of the new titles coming our way this fall. And boy, Marvel sure is living up to the All-Different part of the initiative. From a Howling Commandos book to a series starring Carnage, there’s lots of new offbeat series to come.
