I think a lot of us can agree that by and large, 2016 was a pretty bad year all around. Nearly every major blockbuster movie disappointed, the country showed us how terrible it can be, and we lost a ton of great performers and celebrities to the man upstairs. That’s what makes this installment of my annual ‘Worst of” lists so much more difficult. In a year as crappy as this one, how can you choose the absolute crap of the crap? Well my friends, I’ve thought long and hard about this one, and after much deliberation, I give you my absolute WORST of 2016. Read the rest of this entry
Last week dozens of comic and movie websites got the chance to visit the set of Justice League. Many, myself included, viewed this as a sort of “damage control” on Warner Bros.’ part. After the less than expected final total for Batman V Superman, an executive shake up at Warner Bros, and rumors of director Zack Snyder having more pressure put onto him after the “failure” of BvS, it’s not hard to imagine that this set visit would be designed to try and turn the tide of the public perception of the film. Three years. Three years of casting rumors, movie announcements, news of the studio being afraid of the finished project, and of fans wondering if Warner Bros could pull off their own cinematic universe based on the characters in DC comics. It’s been a long road, but we’re finally here. Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice has been released, and with it, the DC Cinematic Universe has begun. Read the rest of this entry
The Batman V Superman hype train is rearing up yet again, this time releasing a brand new (and MUCH better) trailer. With Deadpool out of the way and Civil War dropping in May, it’s clear sailing for WB’s upcoming mega movie to clean up at the box office, But when looking at the marketing materials for this film, it’s looking more and more like WB want you think that this is a Batman movie guest-starring Superman, as opposed to a Batman AND Superman movie. Nearly all of the marketing, especially the newest trailer, have a strong focus on Ben Affleck’s Dark Knight, which begs the question: what’s Warner Bros so afraid of? Read the rest of this entry
2015 is in the rearview, and now it’s full steam ahead to 2016. If you thought 2015 had a ton of crazy nerd stuff heading your way, just wait till you see what 2016 has up its sleeve. With so much stuff coming out, it’s a little overwhelming. What’s that? You want my help? Well, I’m glad you asked! Without further ado, here’s the stuff I’m most looking forward to in 2016! Well, it’s certainly been a pretty busy two weeks, hasn’t it? With the Captain America: Civil War trailer and the latest Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer, we’ve had plenty of nerdy cinematic goodness to feast on. Naturally though, we nerds have to decide which trailer was better. Hitting just a week apart (and both premiering on Late Night With Jimmy Kimmel), and featuring two major superheroes battling, it’s almost impossible not to compare Civil War and Batman V Superman’s latest sneak peaks. Right now, it seems like Civil War has the upper hand, but why is that, exactly? Read the rest of this entry
I’ll be honest; I didn’t think there was going to be much to get me excited at this year’s San Diego Comic Con. With the exception of the WB panel, there didn’t seem to be a lot of hype going out pre-show. Marvel Studios wasn’t going, Disney wasn’t going to premiere a new Force Awakens trailer, and many of the comics publishers had announced their big publishing movements BEFORE the event even kicked off. It just seemed like SDCC 2015 was going to be a big bore.
Man, was I wrong. From a spectacular Batman V Superman trailer to news of two of some of my favorite comic book characters crossing over, there was tons of awesome stuff to come out of Comic Con this year. And we’ll kick it off with a team-up book I’ve been clamoring for since 2007… Read the rest of this entry
I’ve been dying to see Leto’s take on the Joker. He’s a stellar actor, and when he was announced as The Joker I was ecstatic. And now, after seeing him for the first time, I’m not ecstatic. In fact, I’m really, really bummed out by it.
Specifically the tattoos. Read the rest of this entry
My, my, my. What a week for nerd news. Not only have we gotten a ton of information on Star Wars The Force Awakens, Battlefront, and Rogue One, but we’ve also gotten a brand spankin’ new trailer for the upcoming restart of the franchise. Not to be outdone, we also got a look at Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice this week as well.
Actually, Batman V Superman was outdone. By Star Wars. Read the rest of this entry
Thanks to Entertainment Weekly, we finally have our look at Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor. And he looks pretty much exactly how we all expected him to. He’s bald, smug, and looks pretty sinister. If I was judging Eisenberg on looks alone, I’d say he’s going to be an awesome fit. Read the rest of this entry
