Comic Reviews: Batman and 4 Kids Walk Into A Bank!

COMIC REVIEWS!!!

batman51-32b5dBatman #51 (DC Comics)

I know, I know, I JUST reviewed Batman #50 last month. But this is arguably the biggest comic of the week, and I can’t let that pass by the reviews! After 51 issues, the titanic team of Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo has called it a day, and Batman #51 serves as a beautiful and surprisingly heartfelt coda to the work the two have done on the series. Comic Reviews: Invincible and Huck!

COMIC REVIEWS!!!!

STL002262Invincible #127 (Image Comics)

After an extended break, Robert Kirkman and Ryan Ottley’s Invincible has returned, and man, does it deliver. After having Mark Grayson travel back in time, relive and change his past, and giving us a cliffhanger leaving us at the moment he returns to Eve and his daughter (who’s now MUCH older than the infant he left behind), Kirkman and guest artist Cory Walker waste no time getting us back into the story. Spidey’s Homecoming

spider-man.0.0There was a lot of news that hit during last week’s CinemaCon, the annual event where studios show off the movies they have planned for the year to major theater owners and press. From the premiere of Captain America: Civil War to the announcement that we’ll be getting a solo Ben Affleck Batman movie, there were a lot of great things announced at the show. But it all paled in comparison to the news regarding my favorite wall-crawler, who’s finally making his big MCU debut in Civil War, and will get a new solo movie under the care of Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures. Comic Reviews: Moon Knight and Black Road

COMIC REVIEWS!!

4825579-moon_knight_1_coverMoon Knight #1 (Marvel Comics)

Moon Knight has been a tough character to nail lately. It seems like no matter who gets placed on the book, be they Charlie Huston, Brian Michael Bendis, or even Warren Ellis, eventually they run out of steam. In fact, some might say that the different runs on the character are just as schizophrenic as Moon Knight himself. But that hasn’t stopped Marvel from trying, and this week brings us a brand new Moon Knight series from Jeff Lemire and Greg Smallwood. And unsurprisingly, Moon Knight #1 finds Lemire and Smallwood putting their own stamp on the life and times of Marc Spector. Read the rest of this entry

Doctor Rogue Squad

Cf5OyuVWwAEA_gzDid you forget about Rogue One? It’s okay, I almost did too. But we’ve finally got our first look at the film, and holy hell does it look awesome. The first of Disney’s Star Wars “anthology” films, this will be the real test for Disney’s take on the world that George Lucas created. “But Force Awakens made a butt load of money” you say. That’s true, but Force Awakens also had the benefit of not only being the first of the Disney Star Wars movies, but it also had the most connections to the original trilogy. Appearances from Han Solo, Chewbacca, Leia, R2-D2, and more were going to generate interest. It had the curiosity factor. But Rogue One? This is an entirely new story set between movies. Comic Reviews: Black Panther and The Fix!

COMIC REVIEWS!!!

DIG076383._SX640_QL80_TTD_Black Panther #1 (Marvel Comics)

With his big movie debut in a month, Black Panther’s new ongoing series couldn’t have come at a better time. With Atlantic correspondent Ta-Nehisi Coates penning the series, it’s a safe bet that Marvel is planning on big things for this new volume of Black Panther. Hell, the last page even has a breakdown of the creators involved and their past credits, not unlike what you’d find on the back of a best selling novel.  So how does this first issue, with art by Brian Stelfreeze, stack up?
