“It’s True……All of It”

force-awakens-poster-new-articleCan you feel that? It’s the sound of thousands of nerds shaking in anticipation after watching the latest Star Wars trailer. A day before we got our poster reveal, and now it’s just a matter of 2 months until we see more of Han, Chewie, Leia, and (hopefully) Luke. But let’s inspect that poster a little, shall we?

First off, you see old Han and Leia right smack in the middle. It’s pretty awesome to see that Leia’s crazy hairstyles are still around, and it’s still a shock to me that Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher are back for this movie. There’s also our first look at a small goggled alien behind BB-8. Rumor has it this creature is 12 Years A Slave actress Lupita Nyong’O, but there’s yet to be any official word either way about this.

Another first look on the poster is in the top right corner. At first glance, it looks like another Death Star, but if you look closer, it has a large cannon with some spikes around it. Is this the Empire’s, whoops, First Order’s new super weapon? There have been rumors that the plot for the film revolves around the Order creating a new weapon to rival the Death Star, and it would make sense for the Order to use the old Death Star plans to try and refigure it to make it even more formidable than it already was. Granted, it is a little strange that we’d be getting yet ANOTHER Death Star type device, but I doubt that Abrams will be redoing the plot of the original film.

However, the BIG surprise on this poster is what ISN’T on it, and that’s Luke Skywalker. Yes, we still don’t know what Luke looks like (unless you can find that leaked picture from a few months ago). A lot of people are pissed that he’s nowhere to be found on the poster, but in all honesty, they have to save something for the movie theater. I bet if JJ Abrams had his way, he wouldn’t be showing us ANYTHING from the movie, so we should really be happy that we’ve seen Han, Chewie, and Leia so far.

In regards to the trailer, we still don’t know anything about the movie, and honestly, that’s pretty friggin’ awesome. There are tons of shots in this thing that gave me chills (and still do after I’ve watched them multiple times). But no part of the trailer gave me the fanboy glee harder than Han admitting that Jedis, the dark side, and the force are all real. That was incredible, and solidifies my hope in JJ Abrams giving us the Star Wars movies we should’ve gotten back in the 1999-2005.

I’ve got my tickets. Now all I have to do is sit and wait….
