Movie Review: Suicide Squad!

Now more than ever, Suicide Squad needs to be a hit. After the “successful failure” of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, all eyes are on David Ayers’ new superhero film. The second of Warner Bros’ DC films, Suicide Squad would be a risky move regardless of how Batman V Superman was received. From the Joker’s tattoos to the look of some of the characters, there was plenty to be worried about when it came to this movie. It’s focused on a team of villains that we’ve largely never met before, and it’s going to be the second move that WB releases for their DC movies? Add in the news of reshoots and poor to mixed early reviews, it’s no surprise that some people are very hesitant to give WB another chance with their hard-earned dollars. And while they are right to be a little hesitant, Suicide Squad’s real strength lies in its characters. Read the rest of this entry

Task Force X Assembles

Yes, we had one trailer already, but since that was a Comic Con exclusive that was released after it was leaked online, this is the first real, legit trailer for the second film in WB’s DC cinematic universe.

The Suicide Squad Supreme With A Mouth

Not only did we finally get confirmation on Benedict Cumberbatch playing Stephen Strange, we also got Kristen Ritter as our lead in Alias, Ryan Reynolds returning for Deadpool, and the entirety of the Suicide Squad, including Jared Leto as our new Clown Prince of Crime.

Of all of the casting news that hit last week, the biggest is probably the Suicide Squad one. Nothing against Marvel and their Doctor Strange casting, but Cumberbatch was all but confirmed about a month ago, with numerous outlets all but saying the deal was done. The same can be said about Ryan Reynolds’s signing on for Deadpool. Everyone pretty much assumed those two were playing those parts, so when the news was confirmed the other day it was exciting, but not as surprising as the news regarding the Suicide Squad cast.
