2017 may have been a crap year in a lot of ways, but when it came to entertainment, it was pretty damn awesome. Not only did we have the largest amount of comic book movies in recent years, they were all varied enough to fly in the face of the “all comic book movies are the same” hot take that has sprout up on the internet lately. And speaking of comic books, we’ve also got a ton of awesome books this year, including some from Marvel, a company that has been in trouble for some time now. The Last Jedi has finally arrived, and the reactions to the latest film in the Star Wars saga have been mixed, to put it lightly. Granted, there’s always an extreme reaction to these movies upon release, but Last Jedi has had a more extreme and visceral reaction than any movie since the Prequel Trilogy. The wait for the next “Saga Movie” in the newly reinstated Star Wars franchise has been a long one, full of Rey “Mary Sue” debates, Snoke theories, and complaints about why Luke was only seen in the last few minutes of The Force Awakens. Well, the wait is finally over, and one thing is definitely for certain, nothing will ever be the same now that Star Wars: The Last Jedi has hit theaters. Director Rian Johnson delivers a movie that’s not only a satisfying installment in the franchise, but one that leaves it in a place that makes me genuinely curious and excited to see what comes next. We finally have our first look at The Last of The Jedi, otherwise known as Episode 8 of the Star Wars Saga. Like all good teasers, this one features looks at all of our new favorite characters, like Poe Dameron and BB-8 running down a hallway, Rey beginning her Jedi training, and Finn….well Finn is recovering from his injuries after fighting Kylo Ren. But the real focus of the trailer is on Luke Skywalker, whose voice we haven’t heard since Return of the Jedi back in 1983. And there’s one ominous phrase that has stuck in Star Wars’ fans minds since the trailer was released.
