You’re probably thinking that “no new comics from Diamond = no comic reviews”. Well, you’re kind of right. But one of the great things about comics is that you don’t have to have brand new stories to read! In fact, there’s tons of awesome titles waiting or you in this social distancing life, and I’m here to give you a run down on the titles you can read while you sequester yourself in doors. Best of 2019!

The year of our lord 2019 was a bit of a mess in a lot of ways, but when it came to pop culture, you’d never have known it. From finally hearing the words “Avengers Assemble” on the big screen to being acquainted with a little guy we’ve all called “Baby Yoda”, 2019 sure had a lot of fantastic things to distract us from the hell place we currently call “reality”. A New Dawn for X

Sure, the hype was there, but as someone who really enjoyed Matthew Rosenberg’s run on Uncanny X-Men, and who varies from “he’s great” to “he’s incomprehensible” when it comes to Hickman’s work, let’s just say I wasn’t too thrilled to see him attempt to bring Marvel’s mutants back to their former glory. Marvel’s pitch work, hyping up Hickman’s Powers of X and House of X as the “single most defining moment in X-Men history” struck me as way too overboard, and when I saw the sheer amount of charts in House of X‘s first issue, I rolled my eyes so hard that I thought they would fall out of my head.
