Zombieland: Double Tap (2019)

Starring: Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, Abigail Breslin, Zoey Deutch

Directed By: Ruben Fleischer

Sequels are hard. Comedy sequels are harder. But Horror Comedy sequels? They’re virtually non-existent, and ones that come ten years after the original are almost always doomed for failure. Which makes Zombieland: Double Tap one of the bigger surprises of the year for me. From assembling the original cast and crew to not falling into the trap of rehashing the jokes from the original, there’s plenty to find enjoyable in the return trip to Zombieland, even if the end result isn’t as fresh as the original. The WORST of 2016

screen_shot_2016-08-03_at_11-08-01_am-0I think a lot of us can agree that by and large, 2016 was a pretty bad year all around. Nearly every major blockbuster movie disappointed, the country showed us how terrible it can be, and we lost a ton of great performers and celebrities to the man upstairs. That’s what makes this installment of my annual ‘Worst of” lists so much more difficult. In a year as crappy as this one, how can you choose the absolute crap of the crap? Well my friends, I’ve thought long and hard about this one, and after much deliberation, I give you my absolute WORST of 2016. Read the rest of this entry

SPOILERS

Three years. Three years of casting rumors, movie announcements, news of the studio being afraid of the finished project, and of fans wondering if Warner Bros could pull off their own cinematic universe based on the characters in DC comics. It’s been a long road, but we’re finally here. Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice has been released, and with it, the DC Cinematic Universe has begun. Read the rest of this entry

Hello, Mr. Luthor

lex-luthor

Thanks to Entertainment Weekly, we finally have our look at Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor. And he looks pretty much exactly how we all expected him to. He’s bald, smug, and looks pretty sinister. If I was judging Eisenberg on looks alone, I’d say he’s going to be an awesome fit. Read the rest of this entry

Arthur Curry, Warlord Of The Dothraki?

svb7-batman-vs-superman-introducing-aquaman-2After months of speculation and outright denials on his part, Jason Momoa has been almost kinda confirmed as Aquaman for Batman V Superman and Justice League. Yes, this is yet another addition to a movie that is already going to feature Batman, Superman, Lex Luthor, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, Alfred, Perry White, Ma Kent, and probably a lot more. Adding Aquaman to the mix makes me even more nervous about the final product of the film, but at least now I don’t have to worry about if Aquaman will be treated as a joke or not. The DC Cinematic Universe Begins….

DC_has_big_plans_through_2018_or_do_they__article_story_largeLast week word got out regarding Warner Bros.’ plans for their DC properties, and it’s pretty much what you’d expect, except for one dark and brooding exception. But before I get into that, here’s the prospective list leaked by former Deadline founder Nikki Finke (which is subject to change): Read the rest of this entry

You Don’t Get 500 Million Pounds of Kryptonite Without Making A Few Enemies

jesse-eisenberg-will-play-lex-luthor-in-batmansuperman-movieJesse Eisenberg is Lex Luthor.

There’s a sentence I never thought I’d write. Yes, the Social Network star has been cast as Superman’s arch nemesis in the follow up to Man of Steel. And no, you’re not dreaming. For the first time since, well, the last casting announcement for Man of Steel 2/Batman vs. Superman/Whateveritwillbecalled I’m left with a “wha?” reaction.  In fact, I believe the first words out of my mouth when I heard it were “that’s not true”.
