MINOR SPOILERS

It’s been a long road to Justice League. After numerous false starts, a George Miller almost directed movie, and Batman V Superman, it’s finally time for DC’s all stars to take the stage on the big screen. But after a troubled development that saw Zack Snyder have to step down due to a family tragedy, which caused Joss Whedon to step in and handle reshoots, the League has finally assembled, and the hopes and dreams of the entire DCEU rest upon it. With so much riding on Justice League, and the amount of work involved in making it, being worried about the end result is a legitimate concern. But amazingly, Justice League does mostly work, especially when it comes to correcting the mistakes that Warner Bros and Zack Snyder made in previous DCEU efforts. Read the rest of this entry

The Power of Wonder Woman

WONDER WOMANMINOR SPOILERS

It’s safe to say that WB’s long-awaited Wonder Woman is a massive success. Having raked in just over 100 million dollars and earned a 93% on Rotten Tomatoes, it’s easily the film DC fans wanted Batman V Superman to be. But Wonder Woman isn’t just a success for studios, fans of the character, or female audiences, directors, and creators. It’s also a success for diversity as a whole. Read the rest of this entry

Starring: Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Connie Nielson, Danny Houston, Robin Wright

Directed By: Patty Jenkins

At long last, Wonder Woman has her very own movie. While her live action cinematic debut hit in last years’ Batman V Superman, the Amazon Warrior has never starred in her very own movie until now. But now in her 75th year as one of pop culture’s icons, Wonder Woman has finally arrived. There’s already an enormous amount of pressure on director Patty Jenkins already (this is THE major female superhero after all). But when you take into account the lackluster reactions to Batman V Superman and Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman NEEDS to be a success. Read the rest of this entry

A League United

17349762_1337611299666014_1321506846992253218_oAfter months of nervous anticipation, we finally have our look at Warner Bros’ Justice League, a film that would’ve had a ton of criticism heaped upon it regardless of how Batman V Superman or Suicide Squad were received. By not going the Marvel route and introducing the rest of their superheroes as a team instead of in their own solo movies, Warner Bros is playing a risky gamble. Not only that, but they’ve also had some pretty public shake ups since the release of Batman V Superman, namely in the restructuring of DC Entertainment, which put DC writing superstar Geoff Johns into the co-chair seat. With a lot of the movie going (and comic reading public) hoping for a little more hope in their DC movies, all eyes were on this trailer to give us a taste of what to expect this November.  Now that it’s hit, what’s the prognosis? Three years of casting rumors, movie announcements, news of the studio being afraid of the finished project, and of fans wondering if Warner Bros could pull off their own cinematic universe based on the characters in DC comics. The DC Cinematic Universe Begins….

DC_has_big_plans_through_2018_or_do_they__article_story_largeLast week word got out regarding Warner Bros.’ plans for their DC properties, and it’s pretty much what you’d expect, except for one dark and brooding exception. But before I get into that, here’s the prospective list leaked by former Deadline founder Nikki Finke (which is subject to change): Read the rest of this entry
