MINOR SPOILERS

It’s been a long road to Justice League. After numerous false starts, a George Miller almost directed movie, and Batman V Superman, it’s finally time for DC’s all stars to take the stage on the big screen. But after a troubled development that saw Zack Snyder have to step down due to a family tragedy, which caused Joss Whedon to step in and handle reshoots, the League has finally assembled, and the hopes and dreams of the entire DCEU rest upon it. With so much riding on Justice League, and the amount of work involved in making it, being worried about the end result is a legitimate concern. But amazingly, Justice League does mostly work, especially when it comes to correcting the mistakes that Warner Bros and Zack Snyder made in previous DCEU efforts. Read the rest of this entry

A League United

17349762_1337611299666014_1321506846992253218_oAfter months of nervous anticipation, we finally have our look at Warner Bros’ Justice League, a film that would’ve had a ton of criticism heaped upon it regardless of how Batman V Superman or Suicide Squad were received. By not going the Marvel route and introducing the rest of their superheroes as a team instead of in their own solo movies, Warner Bros is playing a risky gamble. Not only that, but they’ve also had some pretty public shake ups since the release of Batman V Superman, namely in the restructuring of DC Entertainment, which put DC writing superstar Geoff Johns into the co-chair seat. With a lot of the movie going (and comic reading public) hoping for a little more hope in their DC movies, all eyes were on this trailer to give us a taste of what to expect this November.  Now that it’s hit, what’s the prognosis? Comic Reviews: Cyborg Rebirth and Jughead!

COMIC REVIEWS!!!

cybreb_cv1_dsCyborg Rebirth #1 (DC Comics)

I’ll be honest; Cyborg has never been one of my favorite characters. Sure, I’ve enjoyed his inclusion in the Justice League thanks to DC’s New 52 initiative, but when it comes to his solo outings I’ve never really felt any interest in the character. However, with DC Rebirth it’s a time for new beginnings, and with that in mind I picked up the new Cyborg Rebirth from John Semper Jr and Paul Pelletier. Could this be the entry point into the character that’s often eluded me? Read the rest of this entry

Justice League of Steel

GalleryChar_1900x900_JusticeLeague_52ab8e54d0a6f0.42170553So what we were long expecting has now come to pass: Zack Snyder is directing the rumored Justice League film, and that movie will follow Batman vs. Superman/Man of Steel 2. What does this mean? Well, for one, I can finally stop worrying so damn much about the Man of Steel sequel, and it probably means that both Justice League and MoS 2 will be filming back to back.

Now this isn’t a major stretch, but it does seem like the most likely scenario for Warner Bros to take. By the time Justice League hits theaters in 2017, Marvel will have put out a second Avengers film, as well as new entries for Captain America, and (presumably) Thor. If you thought Hollywood was “Marvel” now, then just wait a few years when their lead will be almost insurmountable. This is WB’s last ditch attempt to get Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and the rest of the league on the big screen, and hopefully by then the “normies” in the audience won’t be burnt out on super hero flicks.
