Ever since he stole the show in Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse, everyone’s been wondering just when we’d see Spider-Ham in the pages of a Marvel comic again. Sure, he played a role in the Spider-Geddon event, but he was never the main featured character in that event. But Peter Porker has a starring role at last in the Spider-Man Annual, and he’s got a pretty stellar creative team with Jason Latour, Phil Lord, and David Lafuente helping to bring him into a brand new adventure. But that’s where the similarities end, because make no mistake, Conan The Barbarian, featuring art by Mahmud Asrar, is a truly brutal book, and marks a triumphant return to the publisher that made him famous in comics. But then they made the announcement last week that they will be publishing new Conan the Barbarian comics next year. It’s a weird announcement. Even though Marvel arguably put Conan back on the map in the 70’s with their original Marvel Conan books, was anyone really clamoring for more Conan? Robert E Howard’s Cimmerian was enjoying a nice, quiet run over at the Dark Horse Comics, so why exactly would Marvel want this property back?
