Cletus Kasady’s ongoing series from Gerry Conway and Mike Perkins continues with Carnage #3, which finds the psycho symbiote still being hunted by federal agents in an underground mine, except the twist is that one of them is Col. AXIS is now in full swing, which means it’s time for Marvel to do what it does best with their events: spin-offs! This time around good old Cletus Kasaday is getting the spotlight, and surprisingly, AXIS: Carnage, by Kevin Spears and German Peralta, does a better job of explaining the whole “villains become heroes” switcharoo than AXIS did last week.
The entirety of this opening issue finds Carnage trying to make sense of the strange urges to do good that are plaguing his mind. As a witness to the inversion spell that Scarlet Witch and Dr. Doom performed to try and free Professor X from the Red Skull, Carnage knows the “why” behind his actions, but he doesn’t truly understand how to control it. At the same time, there’s a new version of the Sin Eater targeting news anchors, which quickly catches the attention of the psychotic symbiote. Read the rest of this entry
